Frequently asked questions

Common employment questions in tourism

What is a fixed-discontinuous contract and when is it used?

It is a permanent contract for seasonal work or work that recurs on fixed or variable dates. Since the 2021 labour reform, it has been the standard way to staff the season in tourism.

Is recording working time mandatory?

Yes. Since 2019, companies must record each day the start and finish time of every employee’s working day and keep those records for four years.

Which collective agreement applies to a travel company?

It depends on its main activity: there are specific agreements for travel agencies, hospitality and other sectors, as well as possible company-level agreements. Getting this right is key for pay, working hours and job categories.
